Terms and Conditions

About us

Bank Account Online is provided by CrossBorder Corporate Law LLP, trading as Smart Relocation ("we", "us"), a UK limited liability partnership whose immigration work is carried out by lawyers regulated by the Portuguese Bar Association. By placing an order through Bank Account Online, you agree to these terms.

Our service

Bank Account Online helps you open a traditional Portuguese bank account remotely, solo or jointly with another applicant. Our primary partner for this service is Novo Banco; if Novo Banco is unable to proceed with a particular request, we may instead submit it to another traditional Portuguese bank (currently Millennium bcp). The service includes reviewing your documents, preparing your power of attorney, and submitting your request to the relevant bank on your behalf. It does not constitute legal, tax, or investment advice beyond the scope of the account opening service itself, and does not guarantee that the bank will approve any given application - account opening remains subject to the bank's own compliance and approval process.

Orders and payment

Applications are processed once payment is received. The current fee is €149 per account (solo or joint), shown at checkout before you pay. Payments are processed securely by Stripe.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for providing accurate, complete, and legible documents and information. You must already hold a valid Portuguese NIF before applying. We are not responsible for delays, rejections, or costs arising from incorrect or incomplete information you supply.

Refunds

Once we have started preparing your power of attorney or submitted your application to the bank, the fee is non-refundable. If we are unable to proceed with your application before that point, we will refund your payment in full.

Processing times

Account opening typically takes 2-6 weeks from the day we receive your signed power of attorney and complete documents. This timeframe depends on the bank's own processing and compliance checks, which can take longer for some nationalities, and is an estimate, not a guarantee.

Limitation of liability

We provide our service with reasonable care and skill. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for delays or refusals caused by the bank or other institutions outside our control.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Portuguese law, and the Portuguese courts have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
